A Year Full of Mistakes P.1

This is the first of about 6, maybe 7 blogs which talk about the lyrics for the Burnouts Forgotten cd, A Year Full of Mistakes. I will talk about where the ideas came from, and basically my thoughts on each song.

When Burnouts Forgotten was created, i didnt want to write the same music i feel inlove with, but i wanted to take the elements of the bands that i like, and put them all into the songs i write.

So, i wanted Burnouts Forgotten, to be vibrant, like Blink 182, agressive and melodic like Boxcar Racer, confronting like the Used, diversirty like Yellowcard, harmonies of Smashing Pumpkins, lyrics of Jimmy Eat World, the dynamics of the American Analog Set and trash element of Fugazi.

Most of the songs are about the different types of loss. Losing, friends, girlfriends, death, the fear of dying. So yeah, it can be pretty morbid at times.

The first song is called, Pink Skirts, Black Shirts.

Its about a hope you can have with a particular girl, and you try extermly hard to do everything right, but the more you try, the harder it gets to resolve the issue, and then, it comes to a point where, you just give up because there mis-treating you, and you get fed up with it, and say "Fuck this, i dont want to speak to you anymore."
The chorus is about, wanting that girl, but at the same time, knowing that they arnt the real girl for you, because if they were, the wouldnt of hurt you.

The second song is called, Lonely Thoughts

This song is about, sorry if i offend anyone, but its about, driving a car, being an idoit, causing a car accident, and killing your friend in the passenger seat. So that's what i was thinking about. The first line is about, after the crash, your basically looking over your dead friend in the seat, and how, you realise what you did was wrong, and you want to be dead so you dont have to face the consequences.
The second verse is about, visting your passed friend at the cemetry, bringing them flowers, praying for them, crying for them, understanding that life will never be the same again. The last line is about, looking back on a fun night, which took a terrible turn for the worst.
After the second chorus, it takes a heavier turn, when drums come in, and the guitar distorts with a huge crunch! This is a very boxcar racer styled song, its basically using the same formula as Boxcar Racer.
